While enrollment is open year-round, joining early ensures you can take full advantage of every opportunity the season offers.
Key Requirements to Keep in Mind
If you plan to showcase your skills and show at the upcoming 4-H Fair, here is what you need to know to stay on track and in good standing:
- Enrollment Deadline: To participate in the current 4-H Fair year, members are strongly encouraged to enroll by November 1st to ensure all project requirements can be met.
- Voting Membership: All 4-H Clubs feature a voting membership comprised of 4-H youth, giving you a voice in guiding your club’s activities and events.
- Meeting & Clinic Attendance: There are approximately ten business meetings and clinics held annually.
- Club Members: Youth who belong to a regular 4-H club in addition to the Horse Project must attend at least two (2) business meetings annually.
- Project-Only Members: Youth enrolled solely in the Horse Project must attend at least four (4) business meetings annually.
- Clinic Requirement: If you plan to show at the fair, you and your project horse must participate in at least one (1) clinic.
- Community Service & Sponsorships: Every member must complete five (5) horse-related service hours and raise a minimum of $50.00 in sponsorships.
- Fair & Auction Eligibility: All meeting, clinic, service, and sponsorship requirements must be fulfilled by the last meeting before the fair. Members must also maintain good standing with their 4-H Club to participate in the fair horse show and the Bronco Bux auction.
