October Horse Project Meeting Minutes

The meeting was held on October 11th, 2026 at 12:02 pm, at Maliszewski Home. The meeting was called to order and led by President Madison Grotjahn.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Natalie Nelson, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Bella Grotjahn. Roll call was by Vice President Rubee Pronchinske, and the question was your name and what you’re looking forward to this fall. Treasurer’s report was by Makayla Nelson; Carter approved the motion, and Tate seconded it.

Old business: there was an awards committee meeting after the horse project meeting led by Jess Grotjahn. An update from the speed show committee by Becky. WWHSA speed shows are no longer allowing running the gate.
Discussion about having exhibition riders run 30 minutes before the show starts, to allow those who want to exhibit and allow running of the gate. We will put make-up dates on the speed show bills so that if the show is cancelled, it can still count for WWHSA points.

Bronco Bux wish lists are due October 31st to Becky. For Bronco Bux tracking, we talked about wanting to continue keeping it at $5 a day. Suggested doing educational videos for Bronco Bux, this will be added along with a form to
be filled out and turned in about the videos. The videos must be a minimum of 30 minutes in length. It was suggested to increase bronco bux for non-4-H horse events. There was a motion to approve the change for bronco bux at non-4-H horse events to be the same as the 4-H events. Motion was made by Rubee and seconded by Tate. State show recaps were given by Madison, Emily, Maci, Makayla, Rubee, and Carter, who all went to state Gymkhana. Anessa and Paizlee went to the State 4-H horse expo. 4-H enrollment is open, and Milwaukee Herd basketball game sign-up was put out at the meeting.

New business: Horse ID forms are now due May 1st instead of April 1st. The new 20206-2027 calendar was discussed. Bylaws were reviewed, and there was a motion to change the bylaws made by Carter and seconded by Tate.

Discussion on changing some shows at the fair. Friday was a very busy day last year, and we discussed freeing Friday up. We will change the English show to Thursday, as well as the trail. On Friday, the Drill team can perform at 4, and gymkhana would start at 4:30 or 5. Becky will confirm the judge for Thursday.

There was a motion to approve trimming the tree limbs by the announcers’ stand and a few other trees. The motion was made by Rubee and seconded by Makayla; it was approved to spend $1,500 to protect the announcer’s stand and arena fencing.

Lisa talked about donations from different businesses and which ones we can reach out to, as well as reaching out to companies like Farm & Fleet, Fleet Farm, Weaver Leather, Andis Clippers, etc for Bronco Bux donations.

We decided that we are not going to host an open pleasure show this next year. The State conference is November 13th-14th; sign-up is due October 20th. We want to make sure after speed shows we are checking the bathrooms and
making sure they are clean. We want to leave the areas always in better condition than when we arrive.

Peer Awards will be presented next month; we will have a potluck and a gift exchange at the meeting. Jess will put out a post on who wants to be involved in it, and she will message you who your person is for the gift exchange. Becky
mentioned that we are adding EWD classes at the fair and will be getting the fair book update.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:42 pm, a motion by Carter and seconded by Tate. The next meeting will be November 8th, 12 pm at Malizewski Home. Respectfully submitted by Secretary, Anessa Pehle
