As the days grow shorter and the chill of winter sets in, the Whitehall community is invited to come together for a heartwarming evening of light, connection, and discovery.
Join us on Wednesday, November 13, from 5–7 p.m. at the Whitehall Public Library for a special Lantern Walk and Community Interest Fair. This two-part event is designed to kindle inner light during the darker season and showcase the many ways to get involved locally.
🌟 Part One: Lantern Walk
We’ll begin with a peaceful lantern walk through the neighborhood. Participants are encouraged to bring a lantern they’ve made, borrowed, or received from the library (free kits available!). The walk symbolizes bringing light into the darkness—both literally and metaphorically—as we transition into winter and adjust to the time change.
🌟 Part Two: Community Interest Fair
After the walk, head inside the library and out to the parking lot for a vibrant fair featuring local clubs, organizations, and interest groups. From book clubs and pickleball to Lions Club, ADRC, and gaming groups from Boards and Bricks in Osseo—there’s something for everyone. Fire pits, s’mores, and music will add warmth and fun to the evening, and kid-friendly games may be hosted by FBLA in the library’s backyard.
Calling All 4-H Clubs!
We’d love to see 4-H represented at this event. If your club is looking for volunteers or wants to share what 4-H is all about, this is a great opportunity to connect with the community and recruit new members. Andrea Rippley-Schlais will have a 4-H table set up inside the library after the walk, and members are invited to help staff the table—sharing information about how to join, what your club does, and how others can support your efforts.
If you’re interested in participating, please reach out! We’re happy to coordinate with individual clubs or through the county educator—whatever works best. If you’re a local 4-H family or club in the Whitehall area and would like to be involved, we’d love to hear from you.
Let’s light up the night together and celebrate the many ways we shine as a community!
