2026 Poster Contest:
This year’s poster theme is Soil. Where it all begins. The theme must be written on the
poster. The poster contest is open to all grades from kindergarten to senior. Posters must be
handmade and cannot be computer-generated. I will also put a scoring sheet with the registration
for your convenience.
For the poster contest, it will be ran the same as years past. Students can submit their posters to
their schools, where they can be delivered or picked up by our staff before the deadline, or they
can submit them to DLM. Poster entries are due on Monday, December 22, 2025. Judging of
the posters will take place during the day on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Students are not
required to be present at the time of judging, as posters and awards will be distributed by the
corresponding school at a later date.
2026 Speaking Contest:
There are three divisions of the speaking contest, which include elementary (grade 5-6), junior (grade
7-8) and senior (grade 9-12). The speeches can be written on any conservation topic of the
students’ choice. Topics should address any environmental issues with emphasis placed on the
subject as it relates to our locality or to the state of Wisconsin. If students need help choosing
topics or finding research resources, our department is willing to assist.
The 2026 speaking contest will be held at the:
Trempealeau County Courthouse on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 5:30 pm.
(*start time may vary depending on the number of speakers; notice will be given before the event)
We ask that speaking contest entry forms be submitted by December 22, 2025. This will allow
us time to change the speaking contest framework if we have a high volume of contestants.
