New Distance Learning Wood Carving Program!

Ready to carve out some creativity?
Join us for an exciting hands-on series designed for youth in 5th grade and up—and their trusted caregivers! Together, you’ll dive into the art of green wood carving, exploring history, culture, and sustainability while building real-world skills.

In this interactive experience, you’ll:

  • Discover how wood carving traditions have evolved over time
  • Learn the difference between green wood and dry wood
  • Practice selecting and harvesting sticks for carving
  • Gain basic carving skills and create your own wooden flower masterpiece

Before you start carving, check out our knife safety tips and get ready to work side-by-side with your caregiver. This series is all about connection, creativity, and community—with plenty of opportunities to share ideas and celebrate your progress online. Youth can Zoom with Artist Derek Brabender on March 10th to share their work.

Let’s carve a path to new skills and future goals—together! Register by Jan. 5 in 4HOnline and pay the $5 fee for the kit that includes an interactive curriculum guide, art supplies, and an informational insert on selecting a good carving knife (not included).
