New Registration Process for Shooting Sports Certification Workshops
Adult volunteers registering for a certification workshop need to plan well in advance to attend a 2026 certification workshop. These changes are now in place:
- Only approved leaders enrolled in 4H Online will be able to register.
- The registration fee will be paid using a credit card at the time of registration.
- Registration ends two weeks before the certification workshop date.
- The National online shooting sports one-time training required for all first-time shooting sports volunteers must be completed before attending a workshop. This online training can be completed before or at any point in the leader approval process. The National Shooting Sports online training link is located on this page: Scheduled 2026 workshops
- Additional information for certification workshops: Scheduled 2026 workshops
Those coordinating the county shooting sports program must be informed of these changes so they can plan advanced recruitment of new 4-H leaders to attend a certification workshop.

Invitational Competitive Shoots
These Invitationals offer 4-H Shooting Sports members across the state an opportunity to exhibit their skills learned from their county training sessions. Invitationals are fun events for Junior, Intermediate, and Senior shooters. Each Invitational offers a variety of events where the disciplines may vary from one Invitational to the other. There are 15 Invitationals offered annually, starting in March and ending in July. Scores from these events establish eligibility for those ages 14 – 19 to apply for one of nine teams consisting of four members each, moving on to the June National Championships held in Grand Island, Nebraska. Invitationals are fun family events and a great way for new shooting sports members to meet others with the same interests. Invitational participants must be attending or have completed their county shooting sports training to register. The 2026 schedule will soon be posted at this link, along with additional information: Invitational Shoots
