Position Overview
The Food Stand Manager is a 4-H Volunteer responsible for overseeing all aspects of the food stand during the fair and related events. This includes ensuring food safety compliance, managing inventory and finances, coordinating volunteers, and maintaining accurate records. The manager plays a key role in supporting fundraising efforts and providing a positive experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Training:
- Maintain current Food Safe Certification and complete required Manager Training.
- Ensure all food handling practices meet health and safety regulations.
Fair Operations:
- Manage the food stand during the fair, including supervising volunteers and ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Count and manage food stand inventory throughout the fair.
- Order products as needed to maintain stock levels.
Financial Management:
- Count and manage the food stand budget, including tracking expenses and revenue.
- Make deposits and maintain accurate financial records.
- Provide final totals for inventory and finances at the end of the fair.
Meetings & Planning:
- Attend Parents and Leaders Food Stand Meetings in March, June, and September to plan and review operations.
Community Engagement:
- Solicit donations from local businesses and community members to support food stand operations.
Qualifications
- Must be an enrolled 4-H Volunteer in good standing.
- Current Food Safe Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of Manager Training provided by the organization.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage finances and inventory accurately.
- Previous experience in food service or volunteer coordination preferred.
Compensation
$500 stipend for the fair season.
