County-Wide Programs

Recognition is indeed crucial, and it’s wonderful that Trempealeau County 4-H has a system in place to honor the hard work and dedication of its youth, parents, and volunteers. Here are the details for the Trempealeau County 4-H Awards:

Achievement Award

Awarded to two experienced 4-H youth annually.

Based on overall involvement, leadership, and accomplishments.

Significant involvement at club and county levels is required.

District, state, and national experience is a plus.

Friend of 4-H Award

Given to a business, organization, or individual who has significantly helped 4-H members or the program.

Distinguished Service Award

For active registered 4-H leaders with at least five years of service.

Recognizes outstanding contributions and leadership.

Volunteer of the Year Award

For active registered 4-H leaders with four years or fewer of service.

Recognizes outstanding contributions and leadership.

James W. Crowley 4-H Dairy Leadership Award

Recognizes youth excelling in their dairy project.

Sponsored by the James W. Crowley Dairy Management and Extension Fund.

Includes a unique engraved medallion and eligibility for state-wide awards and scholarships.

Key Award

The Wisconsin 4-H Key Award Program recognizes a select group of 4-H participants who have demonstrated consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in the functions of their 4-H club and community.

  • Who is eligible? Youth in 10th grade or older who have completed three years of club work and one year of youth leadership
  • When/where is it? It is presented at the Trempealeau County Fair
  • Why apply? In addition to being recognized for your outstanding 4-H career, each Key Award recipient receives a framed certificate and a Key Award pin
  • How do you apply?  To receive the 4-H Key Award, you must complete an application process. 
  • This needs to be from a 4-H-related source that can speak to your involvement in 4-H.  Often, this letter is from the Club’s General Leader.

How to Nominate

All 4-H members can nominate one individual, company, or organization per award.

Nominations must be submitted by June 1st.

These awards are announced at the opening ceremony of the Trempealeau County Fair in July. Your participation in nominating deserving individuals is essential to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

The Festival of the Arts is a wonderful event for 4-H members to showcase their artistic and communicative talents. Here are some of the activities participants can engage in:

Group Music: Instrumental, vocal, dance, or novelty performances.

Solo and Duet Music: Vocal, instrumental, or dance performances.

Group Mini-Drama: Skits, puppetry, or creative dramatics with minimal props.

Group Play Reading: Performances without costumes or props, focusing on expressive reading.

Group Drama: One-act plays or original dramas.

Communication Arts: Memorized selections, prose-reading, poetry-reading, original speeches, storytelling, and play-reading.

Demonstrations and Illustrated Talks: Teaching or showing how to do something with visual aids.

Action Center: Interactive show-and-tell presentations.

Marketing: Promotional items for 4-H.

Photography: Display of photos in various categories.

Arts & Crafts: Creative projects made during the current 4-H year.

Clover College is an exciting and educational event designed for youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade, including non-4-H members. This program offers a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, engage in creative arts and crafts, and explore a variety of fun and educational workshops. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children to share in the experience.

The Trempealeau County Foods Review is an exciting pre-fair event that showcases the culinary talents of 4-H youth. This event provides an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their cooking skills, creativity, and knowledge of nutrition. It is held in conjunction with Clover College, making it a day full of learning and fun.

Participation Guidelines: Participants are encouraged to prepare a dish and present it along with a creative table setting. Each entry will be judged based on the following criteria:

Participants can enter one item per category, and the categories include a variety of food types, such as appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and more. A written recipe and a menu card should accompany each entry.

 Entries will be judged on the day of the event, and awards will be given based on the overall scores. This is a fantastic opportunity for youth to gain recognition for their culinary skills and creativity.

Do you want to be a model? Here is your chance! Clothing Review is a great opportunity to show your skills in creating and modeling your work. This event will happen at the fair and be judged first.


Clover Bud Royalty

Calling all Trempealeau County 4-H members in kindergarten through 2nd grade! Step into the spotlight and become a Cloverbud Royalty member. This unique experience provides a wonderful introduction to leadership and public speaking. This is not a competition; everyone who applies will be crowned! As a Cloverbud Royalty member, you’ll:

  • Represent the youngest members of Trempealeau County 4-H.
  • Develop confidence through public speaking opportunities.
  • Participate in local parades and events (optional, after the fair).
  • Share your love for 4-H with the community.
  • Participate in a practice session before the Trempealeau County Fair to develop public speaking skills and meet the other participants.
  • Be crowned at the Trempealeau County Fair.
  • Return the following year to assist with crowning the next Cloverbud Royalty. This is a fantastic opportunity to build lasting memories and grow within the 4-H program!
  • The deadline to apply is June 2nd.
